Isaiah Mobley

Isaiah Mobley led the Cavs with 15 points (3-for-7 FGs, 9-for-14 FTs), six rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in a 99-76 win over the Raptors.

He’s not ever going to be as productive as his brother, but Mobley has been really good in Summer League. He led a balanced effort to help Cleveland get another win on Sunday. Still, even with games like this, he’ll likely spend more time in a Charge uniform than in a Cavaliers one next season. He played well on Sunday, but he won’t be impacting fantasy basketball.
Emoni Bates

CLE Shooting Guard

Emoni Bates was more efficient on Sunday and finished with 12 points (5-for-12 FGs), eight rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer against Toronto.

In Cleveland’s first Summer League game, Bates certainly played with a green light and shot 5-for-18 from the floor. He played more within the offense in game two and took fewer shots from deep (five, as opposed to the 13 he took against Brooklyn). His game is being able to score and shoot from deep, but if he wants to spend more time in the NBA than in the G-League, he’ll have to play more within the offense, as he did in this game.

Emoni Bates played 29 minutes in Friday’s 101-97 win over the Nets, recording a line of 15 points (5-of-18 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), six rebounds, two steals, one block, and four 3-pointers.

The 49th overall pick in last month’s draft, Bates was able to put up modest defensive numbers in his summer league debut. However, he didn’t shoot the ball well from the field, with 13 of his 18 attempts coming from beyond the arc. The Cavaliers have signed him to a two-way contract, and the team’s depth on the wings means that they can be patient with the rookie. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect much from Bates this upcoming season.
Sharife Cooper

CLE Point Guard #1

Sharife Cooper shot 8-of-11 from the field and 9-of-11 from the foul line in Friday’s 101-97 win over Brooklyn, tallying a game-high 27 points with three rebounds, one assist, one steal, two blocks, and two 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

After spending last season in the G League, Cooper is playing for another shot at an NBA contract. He was able to get much of what he wanted as a scorer against the Nets, but the one assist is a bit concerning for a point guard. Cooper can certainly score, but the ability to stick with an NBA team will depend on how he runs the show in all facets, not just putting points on the board. Sam Merrill added 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three 3-pointers in 32 minutes.

The Cleveland Cavaliers officially signed Emoni bates to a two-way contract.

The Cavs’ second-round pick in this year’s draft is now officially apart of the organization. Bates will participate as a member of the Cavaliers Summer League roster.

Ty Jerome has signed a two-year, $5 million deal with Cleveland, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Jerome was a solid depth piece for the Warriors last season, and his play earned him a two-year deal with Cleveland. He’ll compete with Ricky Rubio for the backup point guard role behind Darius Garland, which won’t leave much of an opportunity for him to impact fantasy hoops.
Damian Jones

Damian Jones has been traded to Cleveland, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The new CBA is getting to everybody. Jones wasn’t much of an asset in Utah, and he’ll continue to only be a depth piece in Cleveland.
Max Strus

CLE Shooting Guard #31

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Max Strus agreed to a four-year, $63 million sign-and-trade with the Cavaliers.

The deal sends Cedi Osman, Lamar Stevens and a second-round pick to the Spurs and a second-round pick to the Heat. Cleveland lacked perimeter scoring last season, and Strus should see plenty of minutes as he looks to fill that area of need. The Cavs also signed Georges Niang, who should be a regular part of the rotation off the bench. It’s hard to envision Strus’ fantasy value climbing as he plays alongside Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Caris LeVert on a much more talented roster than the one he was on in Miami. The Heat have now lost Gabe Vincent and Strus in free agency, and with Kyle Lowry likely out the door, Josh Richardson could be a big fantasy winner down in South Beach.
Georges Niang

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavaliers have agreed to a three-year deal worth $26 million with Georges Niang.

“The Minivan” is headed to Ohio, with Niang earning himself a nice payday. While the fantasy production wasn’t great last season, he did average two 3-pointers per game. Niang should enjoy a bigger role in Cleveland, which will give him a shot at providing deep-league value coming off the bench. That said, the presence of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen does make it difficult to guarantee that Niang provides consistent fantasy value.
Caris LeVert

CLE Shooting Guard #3

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Caris LeVert has agreed to a two-year, $32 million deal with the Cavaliers.

A key reserve for the Cavaliers this past season, LeVert will remain in Cleveland for another two years. His fantasy value took a significant hit last season due to the arrival of Donovan Mitchell, and his ceiling is a bit limited with this news. LeVert will be worthy of a look in the latter rounds of standard leagues, but his best chance at fantasy relevance will come on nights when Cleveland is without Mitchell or Darius Garland.
