The Griffins have also seen a good amount of success lately, winning the Calder Cup in 2013 and 2017.

Pysyk is expected to need four-to-six months to recover, so he won’t be ready for the start of the season. He had three goals and 12 points in 68 contests while averaging 17:49 minutes in 2021-22.

Hagg had a goal and nine points in 64 games with the Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers last season. He also had 102 blocks and 138 hits while averaging 16:01 minutes.

Pearson can earn $917,831 if he plays in the NHL or $70,000 in the minors. He had seven goals and 18 points in 50 AHL contests in 2021-22.

Varady spent the previous three seasons as the head coach of the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. He’s well traveled, having also served on the coaching staff of the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, and worked as the head coach of the Angers in France, the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers, and the OHL’s Kingston Frontenacs. This will be the first time he’s been on an NHL coaching staff. Varady is set to work under head coach Derek Lalonde.

Walman, who will miss the start of the 2022-23 season following offseason shoulder surgery, posted 10 points, 87 shots, 58 blocks and 47 hits in 51 games with St. Louis and Detroit last season. He is coming off a two-year, $1.45 million deal.

Copp had a great season with both Winnipeg and the New York Rangers with 21 goals and 53 points but that is not all he can do. “He’s 28, he’s a very good athlete, he’s very versatile, he’s playing center, he’s playing wing, he can play on the power play, he plays on the penalty kill, he’s a good face-off man,” Yzerman said. “At 28, I’m comfortable offering a player a five-year contract because he’s a good athlete. We know he takes care of himself, he’s very professional.” He was especially outstanding with the Rangers after the deadline day trade as he had eight goals and 18 points in just 16 contests. He returns home to Michigan where he played at the University of Michigan with Red Wings star Dylan Larkin.

Fabbri sat out the final 24 games of the 2021-22 campaign after he had ACL surgery. It doesn’t come as a surprise that he won’t ready for the start of next season. Fabbri had 17 goals and 30 points in 56 matches.

The deal will be worth $2.25 million. Maatta produced one goal, seven assists, 61 shots, 94 blocks and 67 hits in 66 games with Los Angeles during the 2021-22 season.
