Kings sign captain Anze Kopitar to a 2-year extension worth $14 million

Captain Anze Kopitar signed a two-year extension worth $14 million with L.A. on Thursday. He’s now under contract through the 2025-26 NHL season at an annual salary cap hit of $7 million.

The Kings will also unveil a statue of Brown on the same date. Brown scored 325 goals and 712 points in 1,296 career games, all with the Kings. He also played a prominent role in the Kings’ 2012 and 2014 championships, serving as the team’s captain. “With my number going to the rafters, I am honored to be amongst the King greats, but it makes me think of the two banners already in the rafters, of which I am most proud,” Brown said, in reference to the Kings’ Stanley Cup titles. “It took numerous people to raise those two banners; the same is true for this one. Thank you to all who have helped me achieve my dreams.”

Anderson-Dolan can earn $750,000 at the NHL level. He had no points in seven games with Los Angeles in 2021-22. At the AHL level, he scored 24 goals and 47 points in 54 contests.

The Los Angeles Kings have hired Jim Hiller to serve as an assistant coach.

Hiller spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the New York Islanders and before that he logged four seasons an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hiller’s primarily duties in Los Angeles will be to work with the team’s forwards with a particular focus towards the power play. Those duties mirror his previous responsibilities with the Islanders and Maple Leafs.

Paquette-Bisson had three goals and 19 points in 55 AHL contests in 2021-22. The 25-year-old blueliner hasn’t played in the NHL.

The one-way deal has an annual average value of $825,000. Copley will add some depth in the crease for the Kings. He spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the AHL with Hershey, while appearing in two games with Washington.

Brendan Lemieux has signed a one-year, $1.35 million contract with the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings declined to present Lemieux with a qualifying offer, so he had the option to go elsewhere. Ultimately though, the two sides were able to work out a contract. He had eight goals, 13 points, and 97 penalty minutes in 50 contests this season.

Edler will earn $750,000 in base salary and he can make another $750,000 in games played bonuses. He had three goals and 19 points in 41 contests last season while averaging 18:28 minutes. He had $3.5 million cap hit in 2021-22.

Brendan Lemieux didn’t get a qualifying offer from Los Angeles.

Lemieux will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, but he is still talking contract with the Kings and could remain with the team. He had 13 points, 97 penalty minutes, 65 shots and 122 hits in 50 games last season.

The deal has an average annual value of $1,300,000 through the 2023-24 season. Grundstrom registered a career-high 15 points in 54 games during the 2021-22 campaign. He also posted 83 shots and 134 hits. The Kings also announced a one-year deal with Lias Andersson on Monday.
