Brewers selected Wake Forest 3B Brock Wilken with the 18th pick of the 2023 MLB Draft.

Wilken should be a solid-average third baseman in the big leagues as a result of plus raw power, solid defense (led by a strong arm), and a swing that heated up later in the spring season. He hit .354/.517/.805 with 27 homers this spring, and profiles to do just about anything you’d want out of a fantasy infielder, except steal bases, but he’ll have to keep his strikeout rate in check after whiffing 121 times in his last 120 games of college competition. He’s landed in an excellent spot for a power hitter in Milwaukee.

MIL Left Fielder #33

Jesse Winker delivered a two-out RBI single in the opening inning on Sunday, propelling the Brewers to a 1-0 victory over the visiting Reds.

Christian Yelich started the home half of the first inning with a ground-rule double, then Winker cashed him in with his two-out knock into center field. That would be the only tally for either team in the ballgame. Winker finished the day 1-for-3 plus a walk and heads into the All-Star break hitting .200/.324/.253 with just one home run and 22 RBI in his first 55 games with the Brewers.

MIL Left Fielder #22

Christian Yelich went 1-for-4 with a double and scored the game’s lone run in Sunday’s victory over the Reds.

Yelich led off the home half of the first inning with a ground-rule double off of Ben Lively then scored on a two-out single off the bat of Jesse Winker. That would be the only tally for either side in the ballgame. The 31-year-old outfielder heads into the All-Star break hitting .284/.378/.456 with 11 homers, 46 RBI and 20 stolen bases in what has been a nice bounce-back season.

MIL Relief Pitcher #38

Devin Williams slammed the door on the Reds in the ninth inning on Sunday, retiring all three hitters that he faced to preserve a one-run victory.

Williams came on with a 1-0 lead to protect in the ninth inning and needed just 15 pitches (11 strikes) to set the Brewers down in order — including strikeouts of Spencer Steer and Joey Votto. The All-Star closer wraps up his first half with an outstanding 1.89 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 45/18 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings while recording 20 saves in 22 chances.
Wade Miley

MIL Starting Pitcher #20

Wade Miley was outstanding in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Reds, scattering four hits over six scoreless frames.

The 36-year-old southpaw racked up eight strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing three free passes. The Brewers staked him to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, and Miley did everything in his power to make sure that it stood up. He generated 11 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 31 percent. He was terrific in 13 first-half starts for the Brewers — posting a 6-2 record, 3.06 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 46/19 K/BB ratio across 67 2/3 innings.
Mike Brosseau

MIL 3rd Baseman #10

Brewers sent INF Mike Brosseau outright to Triple-A Nashville.

The 29-year-old was designated from assignment earlier this week after hitting .205/.256/.397 across 29 games. He will continue to function as infield depth for the Brewers at the Triple-A level.
Brandon Woodruff

MIL Starting Pitcher #53

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) threw a bullpen session prior to Sunday’s game against the Reds.

Woodruff threw 25 pitches, and his velocity was sitting between 91 and 93 MPH. This is great to hear after the 30-year-old pushed back his session last weekend. He has another session scheduled for Thursday. Woodruff has been on the injured list since late April and could return from the 60-day injured list in early August.
Willy Adames

MIL Shortstop #27

Willy Adames hit two homers, giving him four in four games, Saturday versus the Reds.

Adames was overdue for a stretch like this, but at least it’s materialized. He’s batting .316 and slugging .763 with 12 RBI in his last nine games.
Corbin Burnes

MIL Starting Pitcher #39

Corbin Burnes has been added to the National League All-Star roster.

Burnes heads to the Midsummer Classic for the third consecutive year after posting a solid 3.94 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 102/39 K/BB ratio across 107 1/3 innings (18 starts).
Jason Alexander

MIL Starting Pitcher #41

Brewers activated RHP Jason Alexander from the 60-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.

It might not be the Summer of George after all. Alexander will remain stationed at Triple-A Nashville as extra organizational depth after wrapping up a minor league rehab assignment. He’s been out all season due to a strained right rotator cuff.
