  • NYR Left Wing #17
    C.J. Smith has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the New York Rangers.
    Smith appeared in one game for Carolina last season. He also had 24 goals and 58 points across 60 appearances for Hartford of the AHL during the 2021-22 campaign.

  • NYR Right Wing #24
    Kaapo Kakko has signed a two-year contract with the New York Rangers.
    The Rangers didn’t announce the financial terms of the deal, but Kakko will come with a $2.1 million cap hit according to CapFriendly. Kakko was taken with the second overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry, but he hasn’t developed as hoped. Through 157 career games, he has scored 26 goals and 58 points. In 2021-22 specifically, he finished the campaign with seven goals and 18 points in 43 contests. It’s been disappointing, but he’s still just 21 years old. How he does over these next two seasons will go a long way towards determining what type of player he’ll ultimately become.

    Tim Gettinger has signed a one-year contract extension with the New York Rangers.
    Gettinger had no points in eight games with the Rangers last season. At the AHL level, he scored 10 goals and 25 points in 45 contests.

    The New York Rangers have signed Austin Rueschhoff to a one-year, two-way contract.
    Rueschhoff scored 14 goals and 24 points in 59 AHL games last season. The 24-year-old forward hasn’t played in the NHL yet.

    Adam Sykora has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New York Rangers.
    Sykora produced 10 goals and 17 points in 46 games for HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga during the 2021-22 campaign. He was chosen in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Rangers. Earlier this month, Sykora was taken first overall by the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL in the CHL’s Import Draft.

    Turner Elson has signed a two-year, two-way contract with the New York Rangers.
    Elson played in two games with Detroit last season. He also had 21 goals and 45 points in 73 games with Grand Rapids of the AHL in 2021-22.

  • NYR Right Wing #22
    Ryan Carpenter has signed a one-year contract with the New York Rangers.
    The deal is worth $750,000. Carpenter had three goals, 12 points, 67 shots, 44 blocks and 136 hits in 67 games between Chicago and Calgary last season.

  • NYR Defense #37
    The New York Rangers have signed defenseman Andrew Welinski to a one-year/two-way contract.
    Welinski was selected in the third-round of the 2011 Draft by Anaheim and played 46 games in the NHL for the Ducks before he inked a one-year deal with Calgary a year ago. He played solely in the AHL last season with Stockton and had three goals and 19 points in 39 games with Stockton. He will get $750,000 at the NHL level this season with the Rangers and $400,000 when in the minors.

    Vincent Trocheck has signed a seven-year contract with the New York Rangers.
    The deal reportedly has an average annual value of $5.625 million. Trocheck produced 21 goals and 51 points in 81 games for Carolina during the 2021-22 season. He was also credited with 168 shots and 185 hits. Trocheck is slated to occupy New York’s second-line center role.

  • NYR Goaltender #70
    Louis Domingue has signed a two-year contract with the New York Rangers.
    Domingue had a 2.41 GAA and .924 save percentage in 22 AHL contests in 2021-22. He also had a 2.02 GAA and .952 save percentage in two regular season games with Pittsburgh followed by a 3.65 GAA and .898 save percentage in six playoff contests. This is an organizational depth signing for the Rangers.
