Chet Holmgren played 30 minutes in Saturday’s 91-80 win over the Mavericks, accumulating 16 points (5-of-10 FGs, 5-of-8 FTs), 10 rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks, and one 3-pointer.

After playing well in Oklahoma City’s run in Salt Lake City, Holmgren carried over the production to his first game in Las Vegas. The rookie center recorded a double-double with a full line, something that may be commonplace once the regular season begins. While Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson have received a significant amount of attention in discussions about fantasy rookies, Holmgren should not be overlooked. Given the rebounding and defensive potential, it would not be a surprise if Holmgren provided top-100 fantasy value next season.
Cason Wallace

OKC Point Guard #22

Cason Wallace finished Saturday’s 91-80 win over Dallas with 20 points (7-of-15 FGs), three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and six 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

The 10th overall pick in last month’s NBA Draft, Wallace is considered a point guard as far as positioning is concerned. That said, he has the size, athleticism, and toughness needed to defend either guard position. Add in the 3-point shooting, and it may not be farfetched to envision Wallace cracking the rotation immediately. Oklahoma City ranked 17th in 3-point percentage last season, and improvement there could make Mark Daigneault’s team even more difficult to defend. Wallace will have every opportunity to show what he can do during summer league, and performances like the one he put forth on Saturday would help his cause for being in the rotation immediately.
Rudy Gay

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks have traded Rudy Gay, Usman Garuba, TyTy Washington, and a future second-round pick to the Thunder for Patty Mills.

Traded to the Hawks as part of the deal that sent John Collins to the Jazz, Gay is on the move again. While he could potentially serve as an experienced voice in the Oklahoma City locker room, it’s possible that the team will look to move Gay to acquire more draft assets. Regardless of what Sam Presti decides, Gay is unlikely to offer much fantasy value next season.
Usman Garuba

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks have traded Usman Garuba, TyTy Washington, Rudy Gay, and a future second-round pick to the Thunder for Patty Mills.

The 23rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Garuba appeared in 99 games over the course of two seasons in Houston. While praised for his defensive ability, he remained on the back end of the Rockets’ rotation. That was unlikely to change in Atlanta, so he, Washington, and Gay are being traded to Oklahoma City in a move that will save the Hawks $4.5 million in cap space. The Thunder have a lot of young big men, so the fight for rotation minutes won’t get any easier for Garuba if he remains in OKC.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks have traded TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay, and a future second-round pick to the Thunder for Patty Mills.

The 29th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Washington only appeared in 31 games for the Rockets last season. And with the team signing Fred VanVleet in free agency, he wasn’t going to have much of a chance in Houston, so he was dealt to the Hawks. With there being even more of a logjam at the point in Atlanta, it made little sense for the Hawks to hold onto him. We’ll see if Washington can eventually land with a team where he’ll have the opportunity to crack the rotation because that’s unlikely to happen in Oklahoma City.

OKC Point Guard #22

The Thunder signed Cason Wallace to a multi-year contract on Friday, according to a team statement.

Wallace had to wait until the draft night trade became official to sign his contract, which forced him to miss OKC’s first two Summer League games. He should be able to play in Vegas, starting against Dallas on Saturday.
Tre Mann

OKC Shooting Guard #23

Tre Mann led the Thunder with 23 points (7-for-15 FGs), eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and four 3-pointers against Philadelphia on Thursday.

This is a big season coming up for Mann. He has flashed his scoring ability often through his first two years, but he has to prove that he can be a rotational player in this league if he’s going to stick around in OKC. He has been able to do that well in Summer League, but he’s going to have to keep it up as a bench player when the season starts. Outside of the deepest of leagues, Mann isn’t a player to roster until he proves he’ll see consistent minutes.
Ousmane Dieng

OKC Small Forward #13

Ousmane Dieng finished with 22 points (10-for-12 FGs), 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, one block, two 3-pointers and nine turnovers in a 100-91 win over the 76ers on Thursday.

With Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Jaylin Williams all sitting out this game, Dieng got the chance to take on a larger offensive load. He recorded a full stat line, but he also turned the ball over quite a bit and had five fouls. Dieng was always seen as a project with a lot of upside, so it’s nice to see this type of production for him, but it’s unlikely that it translates into a ton of success in his second season. Keep holding in dynasty leagues, because when the breakout happens, he’s going to be a menace.
Tre Mann

OKC Shooting Guard #23

Tre Mann logged 29 minutes in Wednesday’s 94-86 loss to the Grizzlies, scoring 28 points (10-of-14 FGs, 6-of-8 FTs) with four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers.

While Mann was responsible for five turnovers on the night, that was the only negative to take away from his performance. He scored in a highly efficient manner, with 28 points being the most for any player on the court. Consistency and efficiency have been issues for Mann in his first two NBA seasons, so making strides in those areas is critical heading into the 2023-24 campaign. Chet Holmgren (10/11/1/2/3) and Jaylin Williams (12/4/3/1/3 with two 3-pointers) chipped in with full stat lines, while Jalen Williams was held out after scoring an easy 21 points on Monday.

OKC Shooting Guard #8

Jalen Williams has been ruled out for Wednesday’s Summer League matchup with the Grizzlies.

Let’s be real here. JDub probably didn’t need to play in game one. He’s way too good to need to play in Summer League, and he proved it in his first game. It wouldn’t be shocking if they limited his minutes and games played for the rest of Summer League, if they even use him at all. He’s going to be a dominant fantasy player this season, just like he was as a rookie.
