Ottawa made some big changes this offseason, including trades to acquire Alex DeBrincat and Cam Talbot as well as the signing of Claude Giroux. “Everybody’s buzzing right now with all of these moves,” Tkachuk said. “It’s so exciting to go back and talk to a lot of guys and they want the season to get started ASAP. That’s just how excited our team is and we have a full belief with our group that we can take that next step and it’s going to be a lot of fun.” He is also looking forward to seeing his brother much more often this year. Given his near 100 games of NHL experience, his addition provides a nice depth element to our roster.”

Ottawa signed Hamara with the 87th overall pick in the 2022 draft. He’ll be looking to adjust to North American hockey after recording two assists in 24 games with Tappara Tampere of Finland’s Liiga last season.

Talbot is happy to be part of the Ottawa Senators, but he also wants to set the record straight about what happened during his final days in Minnesota. After the Wild re-signed Marc-Andre Fleury, there was speculation that it would create a goaltending controversy if Talbot wasn’t dealt. Initially Wild GM Bill Guerin shot against that idea, but when he did trade Talbot to Ottawa, he cited a desire to avoid “awkwardness” as part of his motivation. That’s understandable given that both netminders were looking to be starters, but Talbot still wasn’t asking to be traded. “I didn’t really want to be moved,” Talbot said. “It played out in the media that maybe I had some ill will toward the organization or something like that. It wasn’t like that at all.” Regardless, he was dealt and is now projected to be the Senators’ starter while Minnesota will feature Fleury in net.

His scoring prowess has already shown to be a considerable asset for us and one that will help us reach the next level. His dedication and the pride he takes in his physical conditioning will serve as a great example for our next wave of young players.” Norris was a restricted free agent after completing his entry-level contract. He produced personal bests in just about every category in 2021-22, while generating 35 goals and 55 points in 66 games.

The deal is worth $750,000 in the NHL and $300,000 in the AHL. Larsson had 15 points in 55 contests for San Diego of the AHL last season. He also had one assist, five shots and five blocks in six appearances for Anaheim in 2021-22.
