UTA Small Forward #30

Ochai Agbaji contributed 21 points (8-for-18 FGs), nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers against the Clippers on Saturday.

The Jazz have plenty of scoring options on the perimeter on their roster. Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson are already on the roster, while Agbaji and Keyonte George have been lighting up Summer League. Agbaji didn’t get to play a huge role as a rookie, but he seems to be in line to play a more minutes in year two.

UTA Shooting Guard #3

Keyonte George lit up the Clippers and finished with 33 points (12-for-24 FGs), two rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, one block and six 3-pointers in a 105-99 win on Saturday.

Through the first three quarters of this game, George had 16 points. In the fourth quarter, he took over and sealed the game with 17 more. He projected to be an electric scorer entering the draft, and while he hasn’t been flawless through his first few games, he showcased his upside in the fourth quarter of this game. George fell out of the lottery, and the Jazz may have gotten quite the steal at pick 16. He’ll have competition for minutes, but he could certainly earn a role as a rookie.
Keyonte George

UTA Shooting Guard #3

Keyonte George struggled mightily on Thursday and only finished with 15 points (2-for-11 FGs, 10-for-10 FTs), six rebounds, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer against the Grizzlies.

After scoring 18 points in his first Summer League game, George exited early from his second one due to a left foot injury. Whether or not it is still bothering him is unclear, but he played on Thursday and struggled to get things going offensively. He still posted a solid line, and it is encouraging that he continued to produce in other areas when his shot wasn’t going. George will look to shoot better in Vegas, starting on Saturday.

UTA Small Forward #30

Ochai Agbaji dominated Memphis on Thursday with 22 points (8-for-20 FGs), 13 rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and five 3-pointers in a 98-83 win.

Agbaji bounced back from a poor night from the field on Wednesday night to wrap up Salt Lake City Summer League with a big double-double and a win. Agbaji saw a larger role for the Jazz down the stretch of last season, and he should certainly be part of their rotation in year two. He may be worth drafting in the later rounds of deeper leagues, but there’s no guarantee that he’s able contribute enough statistically for him to be worth rostering in 12-team leagues.
Luka Samanic

UTA Power Forward #19

Luka Samanic (right knee) exited early from Thursday’s matchup with Memphis.

Samanic has been solid in Summer League so far, but his early exit will prevent him from building on that. He saw time down the stretch of last season when Utah pulled the plug on their season, and he’s signed through the end of this next season, but he isn’t a player to target in most fantasy leagues next season. Hopefully he’ll be able to play in their next SL game, and this isn’t a major injury.

UTA Small Forward #30

Ochai Agbaji shot 6-of-17 from the field in Wednesday’s 104-94 loss to the 76ers, recording a line of 18 points, five rebounds, one steal, three blocks, and four 3-pointers in 27 minutes.

While Agbaji didn’t shoot the ball well overall, he did go 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. The defensive production was also there, so this wasn’t the worst night for the second-year wing. Also of note is that Jazz coach Will Hardy said during an in-game interview that they’ll work to put Agbaji in more positions where he can be a primary playmaker. Given Utah’s continued search for a long-term answer at point guard, this could work in Agbaji’s favor if neither Collin Sexton, Talen Horton-Tucker, nor first-round pick Keyonte George can make the job their own. This doesn’t mean Agbaji would be used as a point guard, but the opportunity to initiate some actions could boost his fantasy value.
Luka Samanic

UTA Power Forward #19

Luka Samanic logged 27 minutes in Wednesday’s 104-94 loss to the 76ers, accumulating 19 points (7-of-11 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), nine rebounds, three assists, one steal, and three 3-pointers.

Samanic was signed to a contract through the 2023-24 season in April, but his deal is not fully guaranteed. The Jazz have until July 18 to make a decision on the first $400,000 of Samanic’s contract for next season, so it’s important that he plays well in summer league. He was efficient offensively on Wednesday while leading all players with nine rebounds. Samanic’s fantasy potential is limited due to the presence of Lauri Markkanen and John Collins, so he isn’t someone who fantasy managers should consider drafting.
Keyonte George

UTA Shooting Guard #3

Keyonte George departed Wednesday’s 104-94 loss to the 76ers during the second half with a left foot injury.

The good news is that George’s injury isn’t believed to be serious in nature. But there’s no need to push a player during Summer League action. The rookie played 25 minutes in the defeat, finishing with 14 points (5-of-10 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), three rebounds, four assists, three 3-pointers, and two turnovers. George will be a work in progress as the Jazz look to determine if he can be their point guard of the future, and getting game reps in the summer will help with the evaluation process. Hopefully, this injury doesn’t prevent him from playing in Las Vegas.
Ochai Agbaji

UTA Small Forward #30

Ochai Agbaji recorded a line of 17 points (7-of-19 FGs), nine rebounds, one assist, one block, and three 3-pointers in 30 minutes in Monday’s 95-85 loss to the Thunder.

Agbaji was one of the beneficiaries of Utah’s decision to move many of its veterans at the trade deadline, as all 22 of his starts as a rookie were made after that point in the season. From February 10 onward, he averaged 12.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 2.2 3-pointers per game. Agbaji should be in the rotation next season, and while his role will differ from what he’s being allowed to do in summer league, the experience as a primary scoring option should benefit him moving forward. One key for Agbaji will be to get to the foul line more often, as he shot 81.2% from the stripe as a rookie.
Keyonte George

UTA Shooting Guard #3

Keyonte George finished Monday’s 95-85 loss to the Thunder with 18 points (7-of-16 FGs, 3-of-6 FTs), five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes.

George is considered by many to be a combo guard, given the role he was used in during his lone season at Baylor. But if Monday’s summer league debut is any indication of what’s to come, the Jazz appear intent on giving the rookie every opportunity to develop as a point guard. George began the game in that role and logged 31 minutes, committing just one turnover. There’s still a lot of work to be done with regard to picking his spots offensively, but the low turnover count and steals tally are positive “first steps.”
