    Leon Gawanke has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
    Gawanke spent the 2021-22 season with Manitoba of the AHL. He had 10 goals and 36 points in 65 matches during the regular season as well as four points in five playoff contests. Additionally, the 23-year-old blueliner picked up one helper in four outings for Germany at the World Championship.

    Jonathan Kovacevic has signed a three-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
    The first two seasons of Kovacevic’s contract are two-way, but the third campaign is one-way. In other words, in the third season of his deal, Kovacevic will earn $775,000 even if he remains in the minors. He had no points in four games with Winnipeg and 30 points in 62 AHL contests last season.

    Pierre-Luc Dubois has accepted his one-year, $6 million qualifying offer with the Winnipeg Jets.
    Dubois had 28 goals and 60 points in 81 games last season. By accepting his qualifying offer, he’s kept himself on the shortest possible contract. He’s made it clear that he plans to test the UFA market in 2024 once he’s eligible, so if the Jets don’t trade him then he could simply accept his one-year qualifying offer next summer too.

    Brad Lauer and Marty Johnston have joined the Jets’ coaching staff.
    Lauer and Johnston will serve as assistant coaches under Rick Bowness. Lauer previously served as the head coach of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, which won the WHL Championship in 2021-22. He also has NHL coaching experience thanks to his stints as an assistant with the Ottawa Senators, Anaheim Ducks, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Johnston is younger and doesn’t have as much experience, but he spent the last five campaigns as an assistant coach with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.

    Jeff Malott has signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
    Malott will come with a $762,500 cap hit if he plays in the NHL. He had 23 goals and 41 points in 62 AHL contests in 2021-22. He also made his NHL debut on March 20 and logged 4:06 minutes in that game.

    Saku Maenalanen has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
    Maenalanen can earn $225,000 in the minors or $750,000 at the NHL level. He had 13 goals and 41 points in 47 contests with Karpat of Finland’s Liiga last season.

    Pierre-Luc Dubois decided not to file for salary arbitration ahead of Sunday’s deadline.
    Dubois leaves the option of an offer sheet available as a result of the decision. He could also choose to accept his qualifying offer. Dubois has made it known that he is looking to test unrestricted free agency in 2024 and his agent has been quoted saying that the Jets forward would be interested in playing for Montreal, which has fueled trade speculation.

    Mason Appleton has filed for salary arbitration.
    Appleton just complete a two-year, $1.8 million contract. He had eight goals, 21 points, 98 shots, 20 blocks and 64 hits in 68 games last season with Seattle and Winnipeg.

    Manitoba Moose defenseman Jimmy Oligny suffered a training injury this summer and will be out of action until Christmas at the earliest.
    The captain of the Manitoba Moose has never played a game in the NHL and at the age of 29, the chances are getting smaller and smaller. He had four goals and 13 helpers in 67 games with the Moose last season.

    Jansen Harkins signed a two-year, $1.7 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
    Harkins had seven goals and 13 points in 77 contests last season. He figures to serve primarily on the fourth line in 2022-23.
